There is no longer any lingering doubts: Summer has arrived. It’s time to break out your sandals and bathing suits and hit the beach. Even if you are only going to the office, when the warm weather months finally arrive after a cold winter, even a normally boring walk can be a fun, refreshing way to start the day. But when the summer comes, we need to take special care to protect our skin. Below are ten tips to healthy summer skincare. Summer Skin Care

#1 – Drink plenty of water. Water is important to your general health and your skin’s health year round, but it is even more important in the summer. It is extra important to stay hydrated when you are sweating more than normally. Drinking eight glasses of water a day is also important for keeping your skin hydrated and clear. So be sure you get your eight glasses every single day!

#2 –Switch to a lighter moisturizer. In the summer, your skin does not need the same care as it did in the winter, though you do still need to take care of it. Moisturizing is still important (see below) but you need a lighter moisturizer in the summer than you did in the winter.

#3 – Wash your face at least twice a day. Your skin gets extra grimy, oily and sweaty in the summer, so be sure you wash your face in the morning and before bedtime. And don’t forget to moisturize afterwards!

#4 – Apply at least SPF 30 every day. You should be putting on sunscreen every day of the year, but it is even more important in the summer when you are out in the sun more, and the sun’s rays are stronger. Be sure to put on at least SPF 30 every time you walk outside. It will protect your skin from burning, as well as getting wrinkly in the future. It also protects you from skin cancer and keeps your skin looking young.

#5 – Eat healthy foods. Everything you eat has an effect on your health, and it also has an effect on your skin. Eating oily foods will hurt you in a number of ways including by making your skin oily. Avoid greasy foods like pizza and French fries and be sure to always wash your hands after eating them so you don’t wipe that grease directly onto your skin!

#6 – Exfoliate every day. When you wash your face, you should also be exfoliating at least once a day. Exfoliation clears away dead skin cells and can be done easily with a Clarasonic face washer.

#7 – Use a fresh towel to dry your face. What is the point of washing your face if you are going to dry it with a dirty towel? Be sure you rotate your facial towels so that you always use a clean one.

#8 – Find a moisturizer that also has SPF in it. You know now that you are supposed to moisturize every time you wash your face, and that you should apply SPF before going outside, well the good news is that you can achieve both at the same time. Look for a moisturizer that has SPF protection.

#9 –Get a facial. Many people think that facials are indulgences or luxuries, but for great skin, they are really necessary. Facials are not inexpensive, but you only need to get one every few months.

#10 – Avoid touching your face. Our hands are dirty, so every time you touch your face, you put dirt directly on it. Avoid touching your face to keep it cleaner.
